Quisenberry Named FIFA Referee
Kermit
Quisenberry,was born Sept 27,1968 in Lexington Ky. His
parents, Estelle and Gordon are long time soccer administrators
and are heavily involved in the officiating program in the
Louisville area. His brother Mark is also a long time soccer
official.
Kermit got his start
in soccer playing for Sawyer Youth Soccer in Louisville which was
then affiliated with SAY soccer. In 1984 Sawyer became a part of
Kentucky Youth Soccer .
Kermit first became
a referee through SAY in 1982 at the age of 14. Two years
later with the affiliation of Sawyer with KYSA, Kermit attended
a USSF clinic taught by John David McGee and Brian Darling.
Both men were USSF National Referees. They recognized this
potential and began mentoring him. They worked with him to
begin doing adult men's games and took him with them to officiate
at many top level youth and adult tournaments.
Kermit
continued his playing career at Louisville Male High School. Upon
graduation he went to Murray State University where he became a
High School official and also did youth games in the Murray area
while studying to become a certified Athletic trainer.
He has a BA and a
Masters degree from MSU and is presently living in Deleon Springs,
Florida. He is an Athletic trainer/ teacher at Taylor Middle High
School in Pierson Fla. He moved to Fla in 1998 and it is their
that he advanced and received his National badge. He has done
numerous MLS games along with now doing some international
matches.
Along the way he, he followed in his father's footsteps by beoming an
Instructor and an Assessor for USSF.
In 2003 he spent a
week in Portugal as the only non FIFA referee. He felt that he
learned a tremendous amount while he was there.
Kentucky Youth
Soccer Association and the Kentucky Referee Association are proud
to see one of their own selected to become a FIFA Assistant
Referee.
